8 Ponds Pass Hike Series - Part 2/3

  • Wildlands Trust, Inc. 675 Long Pond Road Plymouth, MA 02360 (map)

Join Wildlands Trust as we prepare you to hike the first 6 miles of 8 Ponds Pass. 8 Ponds Pass is a 17.4 mile out-and-back trail that connects several Wildlands Trust and Town of Plymouth preserves. Throughout a few planned hikes, you can hike sections of 8 Ponds Pass. This will lead to a final one-way, 6-mile hike from Beaver Dam Road to Davis-Douglas Farm on Saturday, June 21 - the day of Wildlands’ Solstice Celebration! Two hikes were planned before the 6-mile hike on Saturday, June 21. The first was a 2.5-mile round trip on Sunday, May 4. The second (this one!) is taking you 4 miles round trip on Sunday, June 1. You do not need to attend all the hikes to sign up!

This second hike will be 4 miles, taking you from Emery Preserve East (also known as Cotton Pond trail) northeast to the dirt road portion of 8 Ponds Pass, and back. We will hike along over varied, uneven, and pine needle-covered trails, with sections of steep and strenuous terrain. Hike leaders Ryley Newton, Susan Bolton, and Programming Coordinator Amy Burt will guide you on this hike.

We will meet at Davis-Douglas Farm before shuttling over to the Emery Preserve East’s trailhead to start our out-and-back hike, and shuttle back to Davis-Douglas Farm.*
